changes to contractsJob Description:The Purchasing Department at
Iowa State University is currently seeking qualified applicants to
fill a Procurement Agent position. The desired candidate could have
experience in any of a wide range of commodity areas including
agricultural equipment, supplies or services, waste and recycling
services, contracting for consulting or professional services,
captioning and translation services, information technology, Lab
and scientific equipment and supplies or other general procurement
areas. Commodity areas will be assigned based on need and the
candidates experience.The objective of an ISU Purchasing Agent is
to provide efficient, timely, and effective sourcing and
procurement services for the university while maximizing the
university's resources.Responsibilities of the position include:
developing functional and/or technical specifications, reviewing
terms and conditions for procurement of good and services;
establishing criteria of award, evaluating and analyzing bid
proposals, making award decisions in cooperation with requesting
departments, writing contracts/agreements for procured
goods/services; managing contracts to ensure performance
compliance; reviewing vendor terms and conditions, and negotiating
remedies for noncompliance when necessary. The position will work
under general direction, in most cases without supervisor
involvement in the procurement process.In addition to the duties
above, the Procurement Agent will analyze departmental and
university-wide needs to develop leveraged contracting and
revenue-generating contracting opportunities, and oversee
procurement of a higher dollar value of individual orders for
commodity items.The successful candidate will possess strong
analytic skills and be innovative, professional, organized, and
detail oriented. Strong reasoning, interpreting, and written and
verbal communication skills will be necessary in order to be
successful in the position. The individual will possess the ability
to work both independently and as a member of a team and problem
solve effectively. Strong and efficient personal computer skills,
as well as the ability to foster positive, collegial, and
collaborative relationships with diverse groups of internal and
external constituents, will be essential for success. The
successful candidate also will possess the ability to provide
exceptional customer service while meeting deadlines and working
effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while adhering
to applicable state and federal laws and established Board of
Regents and university policies and procedures.This position will
be hired as a Procurement Agent or Senior Procurement Agent
depending on the candidate's experience.For the Procurement Agent,
the required minimum qualification is a Bachelor's degree. The pay
grade is a PS806.For the Senior Procurement Agent, the required
minimum qualification is a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related
experience. The pay grade is a PS807.The Senior Procurement Agent
will have additional duties not listed on the posting.Appointment
