Development programs.Job Description:The Iowa 4-H Animal Science
Youth 4-H Extension Specialist III will provide leadership,
expertise, and support for Iowa 4-H Animal Science programs and
events. The specialist will lead development and implementation of
curriculum, activities, and events to support high quality youth
learning experiences in Animal Science. The 4-H Animal Science
specialist will serve as the 4-H Livestock and 4-H Horticulture
superintendent for 4-H shows at the Iowa State Fair, including
managing the entry process via FairEntry (or other entry programs).
The specialist will also be the state administrator for the Iowa
YQCA program, manage all animal identification processes, and be
responsible for training staff and volunteers on YQCA and animal ID
requirements.Example of duties:Develop, curate, implement,
maintain, and evaluate research-based animal science curriculum and
other learning experiences to support youth learning in 4-H animal
science projects.Lead development and implementation of
activities/events in multiple delivery methods that support
learning in animal science.Provide leadership for training of
extension staff and volunteers to use and implement educational
resources to support youth learning in animal science.Partner and
collaborate with colleges and departments across the ISU campus to
support 4-H learning in animal science.Serve as 4-H livestock and
4-H horticulture superintendent for the Iowa State Fair.Provide
leadership to coordinate with the ISU Department of Animal Science
for delivery of state livestock events and educational
programs.Coordinate national event participation for selected Iowa
representatives in national competitions.Serve as state
administrator for the Iowa Youth for the Quality Care of Animals
(YQCA) program.Identify, develop, implement, and manage appropriate
animal identification methods and processes that maintain program
fidelity and support youth learning.This is a regular with term
appointment(fixed term) position with the opportunity for
renewal.Travel is required for this position.Level Guidelines---
