Prior experience in wireless/networking/software systems development, deployment, and/or operation is invaluable. Example of DutiesWireless systems development, deployment, and operation

• Lead and development of a large-scale, first-of-its-kind wireless living lab encompasses bleeding-edge technologies and innovation platforms such as those for free-space optical communication, mmWave, massive MIMO, LEO satcom, URLLC, communications and networking softwarization, AR/VR, and precision agriculture
• Deploy and operate the deployed wireless living lab in central Iowa
• Lead a team of students, postdocs, and technical staff members in the living lab development, deployment, and operation
• Technical project management; Project Management Professional and/or Scrum Master certification
• Collaborate with faculty members and public-private partners in project execution
• Systems building/research in wireless, networks, and/or distributed systems
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate field deployed wireless, network, and/or distributed systems
• Working with cellular network platforms (e.g., OpenAirInterface, srsLTE, ONF SD-RAN, and COMAC), edge/cloud computing platforms (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes), SDN, and/or VNF
• Work with edge/cloud systems management, virtual machines/containers, Linux systems administration, shell scripting, etc.
• Capability of building systems prototypes based on reference publications and/or open-source code base
• Programming skills: Python, Web, C, C++, Java, etc.
• Knowledge of wireless systems, networked/distributed systems, operating systems, virtualization, systems and network securityResearch and Funding Acquisition
  • Lead and participate in cutting-edge research that advances the frontiers of wireless systems, edge and loud computing, and rural broadband
  • Collaborate with students, postdocs, technical staff members, and public-private partners in research
